Safety Valves

Safety valves are critical protection devices designed to automatically release pressure from a system when it exceeds a preset limit. Their primary function is to prevent equipment damage, rupture, or explosions caused by overpressure conditions in boilers, pressure vessels, and pipelines. By ensuring that pressure remains within safe limits, safety valves help protect both equipment and personnel.

A safety valve operates as the last line of defense in a pressurized system — it must open immediately and reliably when required, and reseat tightly once normal conditions are restored. Because of this, they are built with precision, durability, and absolute reliability in mind.

Exceed Safety Valves are engineered for consistent performance and dependable pressure relief. Each valve is manufactured with high-quality materials, precise spring settings, and tight sealing surfaces to ensure reliable operation across varying pressures and temperatures.

Safety valves function automatically based on system pressure acting on a spring-loaded disc:

  1. Normal Operation
When the system pressure is below the set point, the valve remains tightly closed. The spring force keeps the disc seated, ensuring no leakage during normal operation.

  2. Overpressure Condition
When pressure rises above the valve’s set pressure, the force on the disc overcomes the spring tension. The disc lifts off its seat, allowing excess fluid (gas, steam, or liquid) to escape rapidly through the outlet.

  3. Pressure Relief and Reseating
As pressure drops back to a safe level, the spring pushes the disc back into the closed position, reseating the valve. This ensures the system quickly returns to stable operation without unnecessary loss of fluid.

This automatic, self-actuating design makes safety valves a vital part of any pressure system, providing continuous protection without requiring sensors, actuators, or external power.

Safety valves are commonly used:

  • On boilers and pressure vessels – to release steam or gas when pressure exceeds safe limits.

  • In compressed air and gas systems – to protect compressors, receivers, and pipelines.

  • In chemical and process plants – for overpressure protection in reactors and storage tanks.

  • In oil and gas systems – to prevent overpressure incidents in separators and heat exchangers.

  • In water heating systems – to ensure safe operation of hot water lines and equipment.

  • Reliable Pressure Protection
Safety valves automatically relieve excess pressure to prevent accidents and equipment failure.
Exceed ensures precise calibration and consistent spring performance for dependable opening and closing.

  • Accurate Set Pressure
Proper set pressure ensures the valve opens exactly when required.
Exceed performs rigorous testing and calibration to maintain tight pressure tolerances.

  • Tight Resealing
Once pressure normalizes, safety valves must reseat perfectly to prevent leakage.
Exceed machines sealing surfaces to fine tolerances, ensuring bubble-tight reseating and long-term reliability.

  • Durable Construction
Safety valves must withstand cyclic loading and harsh environments.
Exceed uses corrosion-resistant materials and robust body designs for long service life under demanding conditions.

  • Low Maintenance and Easy Testing
A simple spring-loaded mechanism allows easy inspection and testing.
Exceed designs its valves for straightforward maintenance and reliable repeat performance.
